Paranormal Photos – Fact or Fiction
On 23rd May 1964, Jim Templeton took his wife and their then five-year-old daughter Elizabeth on a day trip to Burgh Marsh, which overlooks Solway Firth, an inlet of water forming part of the border between England and Scotland. Elizabeth was wearing a new dress and, after picking a spot, she sat on the marsh while Jim snapped three pictures of her. In one of these photographs, a mysterious figure is shown standing behind the girl, appearing at the top of the picture in the background.
It depicts what some say is a spaceman in a astronaut suit.
The strange thing, however, is that Templeton, up until his death in November 2011, swore that the figure was not in the background while the pictures were being taken. He claims the only other people on the marsh that day, apart from his wife and daughter, were two old ladies sitting in a car at the far end - 300-400 yards away.
Analysts at Kodak confirmed the photo was genuine and the picture soon became huge news, appearing in newspapers and magazines all over the planet.
Ufologists quickly began showing interest in the incident after Templeton made claims that in July 1964, he was visited by MIB's (Men in Black) and was told by them, during a trip back to Burgh Marsh, that he had seen an alien. However, Templeton claims he was abandoned by the men when he admitted to them that he had not seen the figure while taking the photographs.
Many now believe the picture is the result of Mrs.Templeton possibly walking into the shot, with her back to the camera, and her pale blue dress appearing white due to overexposure.
Was a 'Spaceman' captured in these photos?
Is it a trick of light and shadow causing another object to look this way (perhaps the mother)?
Maybe its an outright hoax, something placed to look like the spaceman?
Or maybe something else entirely?
