Welcome to BethleHELLm/Beast in the Water

Welcome to BethleHELLm

Bethlehem, NH is a very quiet and little town right next to the busy and ever-growing town of Littleton. Still, just like every other place in New Hampshire, a dark secret lurks around the back roads. Past a No Trespassing sign, where in a underground tunnel that goes straight down, a message, spray painted in red says, “HELL”. But, what is this Hell?

I can assure you it’s not the land of Hade’s as told in the Book, but the place, as told by locals, does have a bloody past. The myth of Hell in Bethlehem is just that, a myth, a legend, something that is not in the books and doesn’t even appear in search engines across the net, but the myth still remains within the town.

On the back roads just beyond the other great Bethlehem haunted house, The Cathouse, lies another area that is a bit more restricted. A No Trespassing sign accompanied by a gate blocks the road from locals, but that still doesn’t stop anyone from seeing the myth.

It is just a myth, but the myth is, a Ku Klux Klan used to take slaves down to this underground tunnel, hanged them, and left them for dead. Supposed trespassers have said that the hooks are still down there that they used to hang them with and that the screams of the victims can be heard coming up from the depths of the tunnel leading underground.

Again, this is just myth and nothing can be proven unless an actual team goes down there and see’s for themselves. But, if you do, make sure you get permission as there is a No Trespassing sign. The place is heavily surrounded by woods and it‘s a far way down to the water if you fall, so get permission and be careful!

A Beast in the Water
Lily Pond Road
Pike, NH

Another myth that takes place in Pike is on Lily Pond Road. The myth has been told me to me over and over again since I can remember. An old man, one night, told my grandfather about it and my grandfather has passed the story down to me. If you’ve heard of it, let me know please!

When you go up Lily Pond Road, there is a pond that supposedly has a fish population of 0, so that’s a fishing spot you can cross out. But, there maybe a reason to why the fishing is so bad there. One theory is that there is a snake that resides within the pond and has eaten all the life that once inhabited the pond, but just like Hell in Bethlehem nobody can really prove that theory.

The story continues though, just further up the road there is a small watering hole that supposedly goes hundreds of feet down. One night, a lady stopped her car to wash mud off the windshield and she came up missing. Car and water bucket left behind. No body has ever been found, but some swear it was the snake who got her.

The myth just get’s crazier as the snake was said to be of python or even anaconda size which makes the myth just about only a myth since reptiles of that type can not survive winters. But, as the old saying goes, expect the unexpected in this world, because you never know.

The question is, is their a gateway to a slave Hell in Bethlehem? Is their a beast who has devoured one person and all water creatures of Lily Pond Road? Those questions I’ll let you decide for yourself.
