Journey into the Cathouse
Bethlehem, NH
The smell is what hit's you first. I don't know whether it was just the musty smell of years of no maintenance, no washing, or that something died within the walls. The place is falling apart inside and out, but the mystery of the Cathouse still remains hidden within the walls.
If you haven't read the story about the Cathouse, it is the first article I ever did for a newspaper back in 2009. I did a revision of the article about a year ago that added some new details to the story. Both versions are on my website, which you can find the address below this article. The Cathouse hasn't really been an ideal ghost hunting spot until I did the revised article and it just seemed like everyone wants to flock to it now. I'm not tooting my own horn either, it could be coincidence, but the idea of me causing it to be an ideal late night fright flatters me (I can't deny that!) On the inside, it looks like an ordinary abandoned house, but on the inside. Well, that's a different story.
When you step foot inside, you are literally just stepping on heaps of junk: papers, chairs, old appliances, old food still in jars or cans, and old records. It doesn't seem like the ideal spot anyone would like to go to (except teenagers, maybe), but it was just a thrill to finally be in the house where I had my first paranormal sighting. Every corner of that house, there was something that told a story. How this person, who's nickname around these parts is said to be "Timmy", must have been a hoarder. There's tons of old books, old furniture (some still in decent shape), and the old time records haven't all been crunched to pieces. It's sad though that people have vandalized this spot, because it was once someone's item and if spirits do exist, then I wouldn't think they would want their personal items destroyed.
To be quite honest it really wouldn't hurt my feelings if I went back in there or not. It was great to see the place on the inside, because now I have a better idea of what people meant when they told me this place is literally trashed. That and well, it's the famous Cathouse, why wouldn't I want to check it out? But nothing went bump in the night, but some felt that there was a presence there, it was just keeping its distance. As of this writing, I still have plenty of evidence to go threw, but I will post pictures on my website.
Please remember, I do not condone anyone to go into this house. Actually, it would make me feel better if no one went in it. There's too many hazards and too much of a chance for an accident to happen. A little ghost hunter advice: use your head, because every inch is an obstacle while hunting. Thank you for reading and happy hauntings.

University of Vermont
University of Vermont
Burlington, Vermont
Written by James Paradie
Founded in 1791, the University of Vermont is the fifth oldest college in the United States, this 460 acre land not only has a high success rate for alumni, but is also home to some students who have never even left the campus. Inanimate objects being thrown, lights flickering on and off, doors opening and closing on their own accord have been reported happening on this very much alive school.
The "head" spirit of UVM is named Henry, a student who hung himself in the Converse Hall; some say it's because of bad grades were making him panic, others say he was overworked and alone, and then there's those who say he didn't even commit suicide and was electrocuted. Whichever the case may be, Henry's presence has been felt by currently enrolled students and former students alike; there's the usual indications of a haunting such as: lights flickering on and off, doors closing and opening, and objects being thrown by an unseen force, or messing with a radio. But, there's also other happenings, such as:
A Rocking Chair rocking by itself as if someone is sitting in it, mirrors being knocked off when their bolted into the wall, dorm rooms being rearranged when no ones in there, and a typewriter typing by itself, maybe it's trying to give someone a message from the grave? Even though people think that this is Henry, no reports have indicated of seeing the spirit of Henry, but one can only think that it must be him.
Henry isn't the only ghost who's stayed behind, other spirits have been known to vibrate the floor in the Continuing Education building. An elderly gentleman spirit has been seen gliding across the floor shimmering and shaking as if he's cold, he's also known to knock stuff over and make lights flicker. Other ghosts in this area reports that the ghost of a retired seaman, Captain Jacobs have been seen in the Center for Counseling and Testing.
Ever had that feeling that your being watched? How about being watched by a spirit? The spirit of a man is said to stalk female students in Simpson Hall, where whenever someone feels like their being watched, the room get's freezing cold, and there's feelings of someone being in bed with you when there's "no on there". Is there really no one there?
If your looking to become a success in the world, then going to UVM may be a great choice, but if your also looking for a scare, then it's a great choice. Until next time Graveyard Disciples, this has been another Scared Sheetless. Thanks for reading.
