These 7 Things Happen To You When You Die by Chad Stambaugh
These 7 Things Happen To You When You Die
What happens to us when we die? Where does our soul go? Chances are, if you were brought up in a religious background you believe that there are only 2 places you can go: Heaven and Hell. If you are a good person and believe the right things, you spend eternity in Heaven. If you are a sinful person, you spend an eternity in hell. Thankfully, this is a false dichotomy.
On top of the fact that it doesn't even make sense to think about only 2 options (both of which are eternal), there has been a lot of scientific investigation into what happens when people leave their bodies when it dies and then return after experiencing time in the spirit world. Thousands of near-death experiences have given us the information we need to form a more accurate picture of what awaits us on the other side. Some do report hellish realms, and almost all report heavenly realms, but there is another side of the coin here that needs to be addressed.
Dr. Michael Newton is a psychologist who specialized in hypnotherapy, where he would put people into hypnosis to bring out any past traumas they experienced in their lives and walk them through the memories into healing. He soon discovered that he was able to bring people back so far into their memories that they were remembering things that weren't even taking place in this life anymore. They were taking place in between lives!
In his books “Journey of Souls and Destiny of Souls” (which together have sold over half a million copies) he shares case studies that he has gathered over the course of four decades of bringing people back into the memories of their souls journey. Surprisingly, they all said the exact same things, and coincided very nicely with a lot of the NDE accounts that have occurred. Here are 7 things which these two fields of study have strongly suggested happen to us when we die:
1) Life Flash
An extremely common phenomenon within people who are dying is that they see their entire life flash before their eyes. The brain snaps into hyper-speed mode and starts’ revisiting your memory databank before your soul separates from your body.
2) You Can See Your Body
Many people will see their physical body right as they exit it at the moment that consciousness disconnects from the physical body. You will be able to see your surroundings and the things that are happening around your dead body. This will not scare you however, because it will feel as natural as anything. Some people report feeling frustrated or angry over the way they died and wishing that they could go back into their body to seek revenge, but this feeling passes with time as you begin to fall into the Light.
3) The Light
People always report seeing a light when they die. The light appears off in the distance, and you will slowly be pulled towards it, almost as if you are being pulled by a magnet. The light is always accompanied by a sense of love and peace. This is your transition phase back to your home in the spirit world.
4) Seeing Dead Relatives
Right when you enter into the spirit world after being pulled through the light, you are greeted by loved ones who are there to embrace you and comfort you. It’s sort of like a reunion. These are not necessarily your relatives from your current earth life. They may be family members of yours from previous lives who have been with you throughout your whole souls evolution. Essentially, you have family members you don’t currently know about from a totally different bloodline who will greet you as you enter the spirit world. You will, of course, remember their names and recognize their faces upon return.
It’s important to note here that the souls will take on the image they had in physical form to create a sense of home and familiarity for you. Souls don’t look like they did on earth necessary. The body is just a body. The soul is formless, but can take various shapes to serve different purposes. It is said that advanced souls who have lived many lives don’t necessarily have relatives that greet them, because they understand what the spirit world is about and have been through many times before. It is said in the books that advanced souls sometimes skip this step because it is not needed for them.
5) Guardian Angels/Spirit Guides
You have your own assigned guardian angel, or ‘spirit guide’ depending on which term you like to use better. Whatever you wish to call them, you will encounter your guide in the spirit world and they will comfort you and make you feel at home. But, this is also the time where the fun and games are over. After you experience some of the heavenly realms, duty begins to call. Your guide has been with you and watching you throughout your life, and wants to go over some things with you. It’s time to take out your report card from the life you just lived.
6) Life Review
You meet with your angels/guides and go over everything that happened in your life. People report seeing their entire life as a; sort of movie film, in front of their eyes, or on the pages of a book. You may have to see some things that make you feel ashamed and like you failed, but this is not a time of judgment. This is a time of review, and discussion about what needs to be improved upon as a soul. After you see your whole life, you may come to an agreement with your guides to come back to Earth to work on things after a certain period of time in the spirit world.
7) You Don’t Want To Return
You feel such an overwhelming amount of peace and love that you don’t want to return. You don’t have to worry about illness or earthly tasks. You are boundless, safe, and free. No stress, no pain, and no suffering.
But remember, reincarnation may await you. You may either volunteer to come back to help other souls on earth, you may NEED to come back to alleviate Karma, or you may choose to come back to evolve more as a soul and experience the richness of life.
Keep in mind, these are what thousands of people have been saying about their memories/experiences of the afterlife, and these conclusions are being drawn from forty years of professional work. I personally confidently believe in the reality of such a process, as I think it makes the most sense and is well supported by evidence.
That being said, there are people who report going to realms which resemble Hell where they see demons and other nasty things. We can’t turn a blind eye to the reality of dark realms just because they may scare us. Although Dr. Newton did not report any such findings, many people who have had NDEs have had very frightening experiences which had deterred them away from bad behavior and inspired them to live better lives.
The main thing to take away from this is that you are taken care of. You are infinitely loved and will be looked after. There is no death, only transition. You WILL get to reunite with the souls of loved ones, and you will experience magical realms. Peace, love, and serenity waits. But so does accountability. The destiny of your soul is related to your behavior as a human being in this life. That will be good news to some, and for others may inspire the desire to improve themselves. Either way, we should be asking ourselves the following questions:
How am I treating other souls in this world? What am I doing to help myself and the people around evolve?

This is Pretty Creepy
If this is all a dream, it is taking too damn long! Nah, I'm kidding. Although this does bring the question of what if? When I was young, I used to think that all our lives was some dream of a higher power. Course my views on that have changed drastically over the years, but that and this above definitely brings the question of what if?

Death and Grieving
Death and Grieving
An Online Exclusive
One aspect of life is that you have to deal with death. It could be watching
it on the news, reading the obituaries in the newspapers, or dealing with a
personal loss. Death is inevitable and there’s no escaping it. The story of
immortals is just that, stories. Your loved ones, your heroes, your
antagonists, and you are all going to die someday. It literally frightens some
people to their very core.
I remember when I did my first investigation at the Sugar Hill Inn,
Paul Hayes from the Littleton Record was there to do an article on us and what
we do. He asked Nancy why she does this, that being a paranormal investigator.
“Probably because I’m scared of death,” was her reply.
I think it’s normal to be scared of death, because if you take a moment and look at everyone in your lives, all your loved ones, there’s a chance that you will see them die before you do. Do you ever think of that? Do you ever just look at everyone who has been a part of your life and just think that? What happens to you? I get sad. I used to get sick to my stomach, literally, when thinking about my grandfather passing. As my frequent readers know, he did die in October.
Dealing with his death has been surprisingly a lot easier than I thought it was going to be, because I thought life was going to end after his life did. It didn’t. I’m still here, my family is still here (minus him) and life is still going on. That doesn’t mean I don’t have moments of turmoil where all I want is him to come back, but you can’t bring back the dead. Nobody is a Dr. Frankenstein.
Just today as I write this (I’m not sure when I’m going to put this on
my website), my Aunt Helen past away. That’s two deaths in a matter of almost
six months. That can impact someone, but we expected their deaths. Deaths where
you know it’s going to happen are a lot easier to deal with than a death that
just happens out of the blue. We’ve had that happen and it’s the only death so
far in the family where I cried right when I heard the news. But why couldn’t I
cry when my grandfather passed away?
It’s probably because I didn’t have weeks to grieve, I had years to grieve. What my family and I were doing was literally watching my grandfather die before our very own eyes. I’m sure all of us wanted to do something, but we couldn’t. Death had its vice grip on him and all we could do is wait until it happened. That’s sad and I’m sure it made us feel terrible. It made me feel terrible, because here I am watching a guy I considered to be like Superman mixed with Batman (which would create a strong as steel, stubborn as hell mixture) just sit there in his chair all day long, waiting to pass on. That will make anyone grieve and feel like you’re on the verge of tears.
Still, almost six months later, I feel like he’s still here. I treat
it as if he’s still here. Instead of talking about him in the past tense, I
talk about him in a present tense. My grandmother keeps telling me its
unhealthy to think like that and I just have to accept that he’s gone. I know
he’s gone, but maybe thinking like this is keeping me sane? I don’t know. Maybe
it hasn’t hit me fully, because if I read something and think he would like it,
I go out to tell him and he’s not there. “Oh yeah,” is all I can say.
Just like today, my mother started crying and almost screaming, “Why
her?” referring to my Aunt Helen. I told her that cancer, which she died from,
doesn’t care if a person is nice or meant a lot to anyone. That if she would
have stayed alive, then it would eat her into agony. It’s a good thing that she
went out pain free rather than suffering. People should really compare and
contrast death. If your loved one or a friend has an incurable disease and is
suffering, do you want to see them suffer or pass on pain free? It’s easy to
say that you want them to stay, but if staying means years or decades of
chronic suffering then I’d rather pick death. Because in some cases death is
the only way to solace.
I’m going to wrap this up because it’s late and I actually have an
investigation tomorrow. There is no right way to grieve about death. You can
yell to the heavens above or just smile and remember the good times, because
whatever works for you should be good enough. And if all this stuff that I
write about isn’t true and there’s no afterlife, then just remember this
saying: nobody is really gone if you keep them alive in your memories.

Photo of the Day: The West Danville Grim Reaper
This photo actually does mean a lot to me, because it was the first piece of evidence that I got (or thought I got, I should say). The photo was taken at a private residence in West Danville, Vermont (hence the nickname) and it was pretty popular on my Facebook photos for quite awhile which is why I'm bringing it here for the rest of the world to see. Below the picture I will give a description of what I see in it and maybe you can to. This photo has been seen as a matrix by fellow NEPI investigator, Anthony Ardolino, and I trust his word, but there are those who say it's not a smudge on the window and that something is indeed looking in. Judge for yourself.
See if you can find what I can see: Hooded figure with a skeletal face. Below the face, the figure appears to be holding an oddly shape cross(or crucifix), beside the stem of the cross appears to be a babies face. Also, you can see what looks to be a hand wrapped around the tip of the cross.

Scary People: Vlad Dracula III
"Son of the Devil"
Scary People: Vlad Dracula III
(Extended Version)
Scary vampire? No. But he's the inspiration for the famous 1897 Bram Stoker novel that even lives up to the standards and imaginations of modern day books. One common thing that the vampire Dracula and the real one have is blood. While the novel Dracula bit the neck of lovely ladies, the real Dracula was showcasing a bloodbath of scarier proportions.
Real life Dracula was born as Vlad III or Tepes in 1431 in Transylvania (that sounds familiar) to a military governor and emperor of Wallachia. His father, also named Vlad, was assassinated by his own relative, John Hunyadi, due to that Hunyadi didn't approve of Vlad's pro-Turkish ways. After learning of his father's death, while in captivity he found out the gruesome details of how the boyars of Tirgoviste (or Targoviste as it's referred to today) gouged the eyes of his brother, Mircea, and buried him alive.
Needless to say, Vlad swore vengeance and made it well known why Dracul meant "Dragon" or "Devil." And when you add the "a" to "Dracul" it means "son of the Devil." Oh, and he proved it with lots of wit, courage, blood and death. Still teenager and next in line for the throne of Wallachia; young Dracula had a problem: the boyars had ceased the throne after the death of his father. With the help of the Turkish cavalry, he took back the throne that was suppose to be his and had it for a short time length. This was until Hyundai appointed Vladislav II. Vlad persuaded Hyundai, his father's murderer, to join forces with him in hopes that he could acquire the throne again. But, in 1456, Vlad got vengeance and killed his father's murderer; he would then defeat Vladislav II to reclaim his throne and thus, his reign of terror would soon begin.
You'd probably be wrong to say that Vlad was a perfect candidate for Humanitarian of the Year award. One true story is that he treated his captives like slaves - worse than animals. While working on the rigorous task of building his castle he made the slaves work naked and he tortured them severely. Another true story is that he wanted to get rid of those he considered weak, so he posed a fake gift of acceptance and promised them a better land for them and that he would end all the pain. He did...in a wrong way. He lined up all those in the hall and set it on fire, killing everyone.
His reign of terror didn't stop there; one day he decided to teach merchants a lesson, and killed 30,000 of them by impaling them outside the city walls, leaving them to rot to the bone as a reminder to those who had thoughts about messing with the Impaler. For those who are attracted to Bram Stoker's version of Dracula may be interested to know that a rumor circulated around that time that the real life Vlad would dine on the flesh and drink the blood of his enemies.
But he wasn't just known for impaling his victims of those who even looked at him wrong; he was also known to: decapitation, burning, skinned alive, and just tortured them for the heck of it. Speaking of, your not eating while you're reading this right? Good, cause it only get's worse. He would even have his poor victims of punishment eviscerated which was more or less taking organs out of somebody. Actually, that's not even the worse of it, there's some aspects even worse than all of this that I will just simply save the gross-bomb by leaving them out. (Of course, you can always just check out of my website for the "uncensored" version.)
Vlad wouldn't win Husband of the Year either, as he's actually killed his own wife for lying about being pregnant. He had second wife as well, but she jumped to her death in fear of being captured by the Turks, for whom Vlad and his army were battling back in 1461. Some would say, with the details, that he sort of lost this war. He may have been a feared figure, but he was human. He made the mistake of trying to kill the Sultan one night by setting up an attack on his tent; only problem is, it was the wrong tent. They then invaded Wallachia and destroyed his very own country, village by village, human being by human being. The Sultan was shocked to see a forest of dead Turkish shoulders, all impaled...all rotting in the sun.
The Sultan got tired of seeing all the blood and dead bodies and would eventually give Radu the task of where he left off. What's the peculiar part of this? Radu was Dracula's brother. Needless to say, Vlad would nearly escape through a secret passageway but was eventually caught by King Matthias Corvinus. You could say Matthias and Vlad formed a relation as King Matthias would let him come and go as he pleased as long as he reported to the King on a regular basis. Vlad would eventually even marry the King's cousin.
Radu eventually claimed the throne of Wallachia, but he was despised upon by his people. Believe it or not, people actually liked Vlad as there was (hard to believe) peace among the people of Wallachia while Vlad was emperor and the city was virtually free of crime. King Matthias and Dracula would join forces to take Radu down and reclaim the land for which Vlad built and finally defeat the Turks once and for all. After the success of dethroning his own brother (which Vlad never took pride in), Radu would die of a disease a few years later.
Vlad's demise was met by a few speculations: one is that during a battle with Sultan Mehmed II, his own men killed him. Another is that he was decapitated and that he was only recognized by his own medals. One thing is for sure though, is that he was a ruthless, blood thirty warrior and that if he was a vampire (which you could say to a degree he was), he was very successful in acquiring a lot of blood for his sick temptations and cravings.
Vlad and the paranormal: there is something paranormal about Vlad Dracula - locals say that Vlad still roams the ruins of his castle along with the tortured souls who suffered through his punishments. Renovations for the castle were planned for fifteen years ago, but those plans were nixed when the workers left scared when they found Dracula's medallion which, according to legend, he called upon the Devil himself for his power. Oh and the castle is open for tourism...any takers?
Eat your hearts out, Twilight. The real king of vampires left this Earth a long time ago. Until next time, this has been another Scared Sheetless. Don't forget to look for the extended version of this on my website which is located at scaredsheetlessncn.blogspot.com Have a haunting day!

www.theshadowlands.net - My favorite paranormal website; also where I got the bit about Vlad's ghost still roaming his castle. Seriously though, if there's any takers, I want to go!

Ghost Photo of the Day: Tulip Staircase Ghost
Photo courtesy: about.com Probably one of my favorite ghost photos ever taken is of the Tulip Staircase ghost in the National Maritime Museum in Greenwich, England. This photo was taken by Reverend Ralph Hardy from White Rock, British Columbia. This photo was taken in 1966, so it does look like it's from the period, but still shows what ghost seekers are looking for in perfect detail. I won't say where, because once you look, it's pretty obvious.
The museum isn't new to paranormal activity. The building is well over 400 years old and has had a good resume of a presence there for quite awhile. Phantom footsteps, apparitions, and the figure of a pale woman mopping up blood (said to something of a residual haunting as it's said that a maid was thrown and fell 50 feet to her death 300 years ago) are just some of the occurences that happen at this historic location.
