NO MORE GHOSTBUSTERS 3/ALL FEMALE CAST CRAP!
I'm sick of it. I'm sick of it. I'm sick of it.
With the recent hacking of Sony's personal files, the news and my news feed on Facebook, has been running wild with news about various future film projects. From a potential Men In Black/21 Jump Street crossover (please, no) to the news about Ghostbusters 3 and the all female Ghostbusters reboot. It's pandemonium. It's like the Twinkie.
"What about the Twinkie?"
"That's a big Twinkie."
And the EPA Venkmen was talking about could be represented as Sony, because according to the leaks, Sony wants to sue Bill Murray's ass because he won't budge on a Ghostbusters 3. But he somewhat gave his blessing for the all female Ghostbusters reboot when he said he'd like to see Melissa McCarthy and Kristen Wiig in it. Unless he was talking theatrically.
Thing is, it's bullshit. They can't sue Murray because he wants nothing to do with Ghostbusters 3. He did the video game, he threw us a bone, but it's time to let Ghostbusters be what it's always been. A classic movie that will be loved for generations. Ghostbusters will be fine without a third movie with a new cast (STUPID!) or a third movie with just two old busters (most likely Dan Akyroyd and Ernie Hudson being the only ones) handing over the reigns to the next generation. Also stupid! Didn't Dan ever learn from Blues Brothers 2000?!
Years ago, I would have said, Bill Murray is being a stubborn bastard because he won't do a third movie. But after Harold Ramis' pasing and the fact that Sony wants to tarnish everything about the Ghostbusters franchise, Bill freaking Murray was right all along. We don't need it! And it seems like with every little scoop of new Ghostbusters movie news, whether it's 3 or the female cast one, it just keeps getting worse and worse. I mean, they want to get Jennifer Lawrence in the all female one. She didn't even know Ghostbusters II existed! And how people can say, "Oh, that's adorable," are you fucking mad?! No, it's not adorable. It's beyond sickening. This is the woman they want to take over?! NO! No disrespect to her, but unless you know what in the fuck you're getting yourself into, you best be doing your homework. This is Ghostbusters, honey. This is some peoples, like myself, equivalent to Star Wars.
Mark my words: If they make Ghostbusters 3 or the all female cast, or both, we're talking about ... something catastrophic ... something ... ugh. Let this scene cover it.
The end of the world! Cats and dogs living together ... mass ... you know the rest. Or you better, jerky!
Okay. It definitely won't be the end of the world ... or at least I think. But, God. I really wanted a Ghostbusters 3. Since I was a kid, even in my adult years. I wanted it badly. With all the news, back before Ramis' death. I was really looking forward to it. But now ... I don't want it. I know it's bound to happen sometime. Some fucker out there is going to destroy our childhood sometime or another. But for right now, when I think of Ghostbusters, I want to think of this ...
Leave the classics alone!!!

An All Female Ghostbusters Movie? My Thoughts
![]() |
As if the whole Ghostbusters III debacle couldn't be even more of a clustertruck (there I kept it PG!), it is now more complicating. Or is it?
Look at the picture above: this was IDW Comics Ghostbusters Ongoing series. A great series that will unfortunately come to a close soon (although a Ghostbusters/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cross over has been confirmed, so that's cool!). The boys we all know and love have been sucked into another dimension, but New York still needs their paranormal investigators and eliminators, so new busters are formed. It was well executed and would work today --- if today was in the early 90's.
Problem is there are too many cons to this venture that Paul Feig has been selected to direct. Details are brand new and still haven't been completely etched out to where everything is clear. This is unknown to whether or not this is taking over the announced Ghostbusters 3 or a new project altogether that has little or nothing to do with the third movie.
There is only one way I see this working and keeping fans (or Ghost Heads) happy. Keep this separate from the movies. If they slap a Ghostbusters 3 on this I guarantee it will fail. Not saying my guarantees are absolute, I have been wrong before and already have plans to be wrong again, but this WON'T work. I'm sorry to Feig and to the entertaining cast I'm sure they have planned. Keep it separate from the movies, but still a part of the Ghostbusters franchise.
How about TV? I'm not talking about a crappy straight-to-DVD flop, but an actual sitcom. Have this Feig guy as a Producer, hire some writers (hell, the guys who do the IDW Ghostbusters comics would be my first choices if it was my project), and there you go. Of course have Dan Aykroyd attached to this in some way or capacity, whether it be a Producer or a Creative Consultant. If people see an original Ghostbuster approves of this, then I think more people will have a better outlook on it.
Not to write a fan fiction, but if it was my idea I'd have this in modern times, but not in New York City. Maybe they can hint that the original busters still have that territory, though they're thinking of handing over the reigns to someone else (an obvious Easter Egg to the third movie - that's if this comes out before the movie.) Lets say this is Chicago, Detroit, whatever. But lets take Aykroyd's original idea that Ghostbusters is a regular duty now in any town or big city. You have your police officers, your firemen, and Ghostbusters. Chicago, Detroit, whatever (lets say it IS Chicago), now buys into the Ghostbusters franchise. Now they have a team, but who to get? People off the street? Oh, no. This isn't an average Joe job. How about college students that are studying subjects such as parapsychology. We can keep the Police Academy like shenanigans and have four or five busters.
Pilot ---- Chicago: paranormal epidemic ---- buy into the franchise --- search for busters --- the show ends with the newly assembled busters at their new job (be it a firehouse or whatever, but it would be cool if something abandoned). And maybe end it with the Ghostbuster theme.
It could work!
At first when I was going to write this blog, I was going to complain about how foolish it is to do an all women cast, but the more I think about it, the more it may be a unique idea.

| Just please get someone as hot as Janine. Be a hater. Janine in Ghostbusters II was freaking smoking! |
But who to cast? Obviously you need some funny women. Feig has worked with Melissa McCarthy and I think she could work as a Ghostbuster. Make her a para-nerd, but not as much as Egon (rest in peace). More like Ray. She can be excited over every little thing that goes bump in the night and still have a great sense of humor. Haven't seen her movies yet, but she is a laugh riot on Mike and Molly.
But of course you'll need a mix of veteran actresses and fresh faces. My next candidate would be:
First of all, I really like Kat Dennings, not to mention, I also dig "alternative" hot chicks. Second, this could be a great way to get her off that mediocre show, Two Broke Girls. Kat has been typecast for so long as a goth, but she does it so well, that you forget she is one. Trust me on this. I know earlier I mentioned a character in the Ghostbusters universe named Kylie Griffin - Kat would make a perfect fit. See, if they do that, I would make it that Kylie (played by Kat Dennings) has been sent by Ray (her mentor) to another city to expand the franchise. Kylie, much like her character in the comics, can be very knowledgeable on the subject, but is also sarcastic.
We need a bad ass female though.

| Found one! |
Is three enough? I'd say for right now it is, but I could definitely see some guest stars. Maybe even have Ernie Hudson, Winston Zeddemore, himself have a lead star appearance on the show. Sort of like a trainer to the new team. Maybe have Aykroyd, Ray Stantz, come on the show a few times. Bill Murray? As much as I'd love it, we may hear about Peter Venkman on the show, but I don't think we'll ever see him. But who knows? Maybe Bill will see the female cast and have a change of heart. But even that is far-fetched unfortunately.
But do we really need just female Ghostbusters? How about Ghostbusters is now national and sometimes they'll have other busters join them, whether they're in training or learning other teams techniques, this would be great to bring in some good stars.
But just like every movie, TV show, blah, blah, blah. There HAS to be a love interest. And as much as I like to break that tradition just to show that not everything has to follow a certain formula, it could work on this show. Say one character is married, another has a boyfriend, and it could be bad. They could have spirits abduct their spouses or hell, even their kids. It could work.
But if I keep on going, I'm going to ramble. I know I will. Maybe I already am. Yep. I most likely am. But what do you think? Does the world need an all female Ghostbusters, should we stick with the original plans for a Ghostbusters 3, or should Sony and Dan Aykroyd put this 30 year dream to sleep once and for all?

Ghostbusters 3 - My Thoughts
That’s Not Paranormal! (Actually it kind of is …)
Ghostbusters 3 – Do We Really Need to Cross the Streams Again?
(Out of all the posters I thought this was the coolest fan made.)
Note: This blog was written before Harold Ramis' death. Rest in Peace, childhood mentor. This lowers my anticipation for a Ghostbusters III.
You don’t have to look very far on this website to realize that I am a huge Ghostbusters fan. I’ve said many of times that the movies, cartoon (The Real Ghostbusters), and the comics have influenced me to become a paranormal investigator and I think many would agree with me. I’ve also told many people that the Ghostbusters franchise is my Star Wars (as well as the Back to the Future trilogy, but that’s not what we’re talking about).
For about twenty years Dan Akroyd has been planting the seeds for an
epic third installment of the movie. This includes finally going into the ghost
world or the heavily discussed Ghostbusters in Hell or Ghostbusters Hellbent. They both sound so
great, to me at least, that I’d love to see it. But, and there’s always a but,
is now the right time? I think that maybe ten years ago or earlier would have
been the time to do this. Now? I mean no disrespect for the men who’ve
influenced me, but quite frankly their too old to cross the streams one last
time.
On this one occasion I wouldn’t mind being wrong. But as a big fan and
a committed member of the Ghostbusters fans universe, I just don’t want to be
right and then they make the next movie and it’s terrible. Sequels can destroy
a legacy. Now I know a lot of people don’t particularly care for Ghostbusters
II, but I’m one of the many (I think) that actually thinks it has its moments
and deserves a bit more respect than it gets. I think fans and moviegoers only
real gripe is the ending. The “fight” with Vigo is one of the worse climax
battles I think I’ve seen. They built Vigo like this bad ass magician and all
it took was some slime and weak Proton blasts and that was it. What the blue
hell was that? I read in a few places (though the websites don’t come to mind
right now) that the production company was running out of funding for the film
and had to resort to that. I could be wrong and maybe I am, but that’s the talk
of the mill on that fine disaster piece. Other than that, I really have no real
big problem with the flick.
But still the question is, do we really need a part 3? Most would say
yes, others would say no. Because one buster doesn’t want to come back and
that’s Bill Murray. Bill has gone from wanting to, to saying screw that because
he still has a sour taste in his mouth from all that slime in part 2. Mr.
Murray needs to make up his mind and either do it or not. Come on Bill, could
it really be worse than Garfield? (I love Garfield the comic strip. The movie?
Not so much.) And Dr. Peter Venkmen is my favorite Ghostbuster and it would
suck not to have Bill Murray reprise the character that he’s made possibly one
of the top ranking smart asses in movie history. But Bill has to do what’s
right for Bill. He sticks to his guns and I respect that. And some people would
say, “Do it for the fans Bill!” Okay, yeah he could do that. Or maybe he has a
hunch, just like me, that it’s a little too late for a new installment.
That and I strictly do NOT want a new Ghostbusters team. There are only four Ghostbusters and that's it. None of this new crap. They were thinking about having Seth Rogen and Anna Farris in the third on as the new Ghostbusters and not taking away from their acting ability, but I just don't want that. I'm not an out with the old and in with the new type of person, especially when it comes to movies that I've loved since I was a child. To me, some movies just do not need remakes and Ghostbusters is one. I can see a relaunch, like where it acknowledges the old Ghostbusters. But they've tried that already (see the Extreme Ghostbusters.)
I also read that Ernie Hudson, who played Winston, was no notified nor called about reprising his role. Now I know that when most people think of Ghostbusters, they think of Ray, Peter, and Egon, but I've always liked Winston. He's the cool black guy! That and he coined the phrase, "That's a big Twinkie." I think Ernie has his spot in the Ghostbusters just like the other three and if they do the movie then they should have him.

Because if you look at it Ghostbusters isn’t nearly dead yet. If they
were to never make a sequel, here are some ways to get over that and just accept
it:
They had a successful animated program called The Real Ghostbusters.
It pretty much followed the movies storylines and is still a great show to
watch if you’re in the Ghostbusters mood. They just recently released the full
series (from 1986 – 1991) in a cool looking DVD case. It looks exactly like the
Ghostbusters firehouse from the cartoon.
I do have a few gripes with it:
1, Ray Stantz portrayal in the cartoon is annoying; he acted too much
like a little kid. It gets to the point where you get used to it and just
accept it for what it is.
2, when the show turned to Slimer and the Real Ghostbusters, it was almost too unbearable to watch it because they literally had to stick Slimer everywhere on the freaking show and he gets so annoying! I'm okay with him being a mascot, but he doesn't need to go with them everywhere, because then you know he's going to mess something up. It becomes too predictable.
3, biggest gripe for me is when they got rid of Lorenzo Music, who
played the voice of Peter Venkmen. There's some internet talk about how Bill Murray didn't like how Music was potraying his voice. He even said that "he sounds too much like Garfield." Which is funny because not only did Music potray the original voice of Garfield, but Murray would later go on and take over for Music as the voice of Garfield. They replaced Music with Dave Coulier, who
also played Joey Gladstone on Full House. Music tried to sound like Bill Murray
and I think for the most part he succeeded, but Dave? Nuh-uh. Peter Venkmen
went from cool cartoon character to bland surfer bum. I didn't accept it, I cringe everytime I hear Coulier behind Peter's voice. It's pretty awful.
Other than that, the show was pretty cool. The main idea of the show
is of course busting ghosts and where can you go wrong with that? Great
storylines, fun, funny, and they always get themselves into sticky situations
(ectoplasm sticky).
IDW comics also continue the franchise with an exciting comic book
series called Ghostbusters: Ongoing. This one stays more true to the movies
than the cartoon does and as a Ghostbusters fan I can honestly say I am very satisfied
with what they’re doing so far. IDW published 16 issues for this series and are
now starting with this sequel to the Ongoing series called, “The New
Ghostbusters.” Something happens to the boys and Janine has to take over with
her new field of Ghostbusters. Not giving any more details there, because you’ll
have to get it yourself. I think its worth the money.
Ghostbusters: The Video Game is said to act as the sequel in case
there never is one. The storyline follows the events of part one where ghosts
are just popping up everywhere. It's weird that they barely even mention the second movie. Although in the firehouse, which you can roam around in, they do have a potrait of Vigo, and you have to use a slime thrower. However in this game, instead of using that pink slime they used in the second movie, you use this green slime. I prefer the green. The boys have to face the Stay Puft Marshmallow
Man again, as well as a possible resurrection of Gozer. They find that that isn’t
the case. Again, no spoilers. This game came out in 2009 and was acclaimed to
be a fun game for all fans and video gamers alike. Though when I do my
research, some video gamers say otherwise and think the game “sucks.” I beg to
differ. As a fan of the movies I loved it, but then again I'm not a regular gamer. But if you want to see an idiot yelling at people on the TV like they are
real? Come over to my house someday when I’m playing and I’ll show you him.
Until then, get the game if you’re a fan because it really does feel like a
sequel. Also the original Ghostbusters: Dan Akroyd, Bill Murray, Harold Ramis,
and Ernie Hudson reprise their roles (in voice form at least).
See? Even if the talks of a Ghostbusters 3 eventually fall through, then you have these to keep you busy.
If they do end up going forward with part 3 then they have a lot of
ground to cover. Best of luck to them, especially without Dr. Venkmen.
So what are your thoughts? Should they make a Ghostbusters 3 or should they just stick it back in development hell forever?
