Haunted Places in San Diego: Lindbergh Field by SpookyLady InSanDiego
San Diego International Airport, also known as Lindbergh Field, was dedicated in 1928. Famous flyer Charles Lindbergh started on his first transatlantic solo flight from San Diego. It served as an airmail route, a US Coast Guard air station (that is still present at Lindbergh Field) and an Army Air Corps station before it began regular commercial airline flights in the 1960s.
An airline traveler was waiting for his wife to come out of the restroom when he saw a couple walking toward him. They looked to be in their fifties and were carrying some luggage. The man was tall with thinning hair. The woman was a small redhead wearing white pants and a plaid jacket. The woman was fussing at her husband, asking him why he thought he was better than everyone else. Her husband didn’t seem to pay any mind to her scolding.
As the couple walked past the traveler, he averted his gaze to be respectful. When he looked up he found the couple had simply vanished. The corridor was too long for them to have turned a corner out of sight, and there weren’t any doors or hallways they could have taken. The traveler’s wife didn’t see a woman in a plaid jacket in the restroom.
Another traveler reported a group of unruly children running around in the airport. When he finally decided to find their parents and talk to them about it, the children disappeared before his eyes. He looked around to find that other travelers didn’t seem to notice the children at all.
A woman is reported to run through the corridors, as if late for her flight, however she disappears before she ever reaches her gate. Another is reported to ask people for the time, and when they look up from their wristwatch or cell phone the woman is gone.
Serving as a gateway for travelers, an emotional place of comings and goings, perhaps making Lindbergh Field a gateway for the supernatural.
