Both are very much needed when conducting investigations. It's a good idea for taking down notes, interviewing clients on the different types of activity that is happening to them. Also to document everything is great because later on you can go back and review to see if anything has a connection. These were the first things used before voice recorders, and although now its done orally, it is still written down to be filed. You want to get names, locations, times, and dates. Also make sure to document paranormal happenings where ever you are.
